Default a few questions from a newbie..

1, What is the best way to go as regards to straight razor shaving with a few moles on the face?- I am aflicted with these, and my god do they bleed if nicked.
2, what is the prefered oil to put on the blades if they are going to be stored ? I have 7 straight razors, but only have one that has been honed and stroped.
3, why are there so many differing sizes of razor ? what is the best size to use ?

I have been using straight razors for about 6 months now, although I must admit, I only shave with the straight twice a week, i also use a rolls razor and a Valet autostrop. I would prefer to be more straight razor oriented though, especially now as my Valet could do with some new blades.

I had one mole on my cheek. I cut it flush one day and I don't recommend that. All you can do is shave up to and around them as far as I know.

I use a silicone gun cloth impregnated with a rust preventative that is no longer available.

The size of the blade is a matter of preference. It seem so me that the manufacturers make more 5/8 than any other size with 6/8 being a close second. Just my impression. I am comfortable with either of those and even the 7/8 and 8/8 sizes. I think a person will get accustomed to whichever size they have once they've used it enough.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

As Jimmy said, try your best to work round them. A straight is as likely to remove them, as nick them!

If they're stored for a while, then many guys use camellia oil. If the scales are porous then be aware that the oil may stain them.

Razors are made in different sizes just because that's the way people wanted them. Most guys develop a preferred point & size. It's just down to personal preference really.

If you intend to use them more frequently, why not consider sending one or two to Steve at The Invisible Edge. Here's his honing page.
