When I was in Jacksonville Florida for Christmas, I saw a place in the mall called Bad Boyz Barber Shop, that did straight razor shaves. Since I am in my upper 30's, I thought I was too old to go in there, plus I wasn't really the right type of person to go in there anyway, I mean, I drive a pickup, not a rice burner.
I finally found one. Eddie's Barber Shop in Spring, TX (I-45 @ Rayford Rd.) just north of Houston. I took my son there to get a haircut (he wanted a certain cut) and saw one of the guys shaving somebody'n neck so I asked. Unfortunately they don't use a str8 or brush/soap/mug. They use a feather and soap/shaving cream machine. I'm gonna go try one possibly next week. I'll post results.
Hey all,
I should chime in by saying that in New York City, any barber will shave you. There's even a boutique "gentleman's barber" on Madison ave (I think), called the art of shaving or something like that. I would think at first blush, they might be willing to shave you.
The moral of the story is come to new york for a shave!

I lived in St. Louis the past couple of years, and I found one guy that still does straight razor shaves. I can't remember the name or number, but I'm pretty sure it was on Brentwood Blvd. He had an ad in the yellow pages that stated he offered straight razor shaves. I tried contacting other barbers in the area, but they had all ceased straight razor shaves. This guy was the only one I found in St. Louis. I'd bet there's a few more, but you have to go digging for them.

I have visited Dublin, Ireland on a few occasions, to my surprise Bachelors Walk area in Dublin is full of places to get a shave, my interest in this was fuelled by a shop in BlueMountain Canada by a guy who did them with disposables,anyways being a young kinda guy, all of 32..haha..i would walk past them all to look inside them, i was a little fussy about the surroundings,then i saw the stripey pole and looked inside this parrticular one, it looked modern was beautiful inside and so i stepped in. I recieved a warm welcome, coffee and then got an awesome shave and scalp massage 28 Euros well spent, thats about £20 / $35 dollars and took well over an hour to complete this sounds exspensive i know but we have no barbers where i live in scotland so i was well pleased then when i came back home it was what i wanted to do for myself and here i am.
The Barbers i visit in Dublin is called
Sams Barber Rooms
28 Lower Ormond Quay,
Dublin
if any of you guys make it there i loved it , i know im new at this but it really made feel great. :D
We can setup a frapper page and drop pushpins on all spots where barbers are still barbers.
No login required - simply click here:
http://www.frappr.com/i/frapper_sticker.gif
http://www.frappr.com/straighrazorplacebarbershops
If possible, please put as much useful info as possible (for the sake of the map's integrity). For example:
<Name of Shop>
<Guy who actually shaves, if only one guy there>*optional
<Street Address>
<City>, <State>, <zip>
<ten-digit phone number>
<any info you wanna add>
If all you know is, "uhhh between this and that street." Then that'll have to be good enough. You can update it later or someone else can put a pushpin right next to it with more info.
I hope peeps will find this useful.
P.S. If you click on the FORUMS link in the frapper map page, it'll redirect back to this site. So maybe some Frappr traffic ends up here and we get more members (as if we had a shortage ;) ).
