I was just in Minneapolis and thought I would let you guys know that the Barber Shop in the Airport still does straight razor shaves. Do you guys know of any other locations? I wonder how we can start a list in here. Lynn

Gearhead in Chico, CA. You can get a haircut, shave and tattoo. Along with a beer while you are waiting. Also he cuts mohawks for free...

Are we counting "shavette" shaves or just straight razors?
I vote straight shave only. It is a whole different feel, and it's the real deal. I remember shavettes on the back of my neck and I never liked it.Quote:

Was talking to my barber just the other day about straight shaving. He told me that it has been over 20 years since he gave anyone a real straight razor shave. When someone requests a shave he uses a safety razor unless they specifically request otherwise--and then its a disposable (Feather I think). He was telling me that it is basically a time issue--honing and stropping.
He was somewhat surprised to find out that there is renewed interest in using straights and he asked where one goes to buy one these days. Maybe it was my imagination, but he seemed to treat me with a bit more respect after finding out that I use a straight :p . He said he once tried to shave himself with a straight, but gave up because he couldn't see what he was doing when he was working on the left side of his face--he only used his dominant (right) hand.
