Default The Head Shave-Finally did it

Made too much lather tonight so i finally got the guts to try the head shave.
Went pretty well, a bit rough and a few nicks but I did it.
My question is too any other head shavers out there, do you have a favourite type of blade for the task? Hollow grind, wedge, big blade or small, because I'm guessing the 6/8 stiff gring Bengall spike point I had in my hand at the time might not be the best option.

Congratulations Baldy! You have joined an elite group of intrepid (and handsome) souls.

As to the razor choice, when you are first starting out it may pay to try a few different types to see what best suits you. As I am basically bald on top anyway, I find I can use any type of blade to shave my head. However, I know some guys have quite thick hair and prefer the momentum of a wedge.

But as a rule it should not really matter - it is just practice practice practice! Watch your ears - not everyone can pull off the Chopper Reid look....

I use whatever I just shaved my face with, no particular grind, or size, they all seem to work for me.

I haven't told my wife yet, but I'm thinking of doing a head shave. Today at the gym while using the rowing machine I had a mirror off to one side in which I could perfectly see my widening bald spot. I'm starting to look like a fransician monk. It's time I did something about this.

fellow head shaver here, i am currently using what i think is a full hollow, not really sure though, i generally use what i use on my face. as for nicks on the ears, i got the back of my ear with the heel of my fredrick last night, still working on my method, have a question to jimbo about the back of the head, i have noticed that i am not getting a very close shave there, kinda scared to go against the grain on an area i cant see, any advice.
