Default A year (and some change) in Review

    Hey y'all

I just realized that I have been shaving with a straight for a year and like 3 months.

So here is my year in review:

For my first few months of ever having to shave I was using a fusion and it hurt (A LOT), so I looked around the interwebs for suggestions.

I then found out about straight razors.

I bought off amazon a brush and Col. Conks soap and practiced lathering and all that fun stuff. A few weeks later I decided to actually buy a razor, so I found a T Hessen Bruch, sharpened by Hoglahoo (also from Hoglahoo) and picked that up. I also bought a whole lot of samples from a whole lot of companies! I finally decided on Musgo real after trying a lot of stuff, but remember this was a year ago and I havnt been on for about 3/4 of that time so idk what the new favorite cream is so educate me! Of course i also use the samples every once in a while.

    Eventually i reached and impass...

I didnt know how to strop effectivly. So I asked around and JMS was willing to help a newby, so i went over to his house and talked with him for a while and he showed me some things and then all of his razors!

So I took all that I learned at JMS's lovly abode and put it to use. I had mostly been using creams for most of the year and then at christmas my lovly mother got me Art of Shaving sandalwood soap, wich i have been using with the last little bit of my Musgo.

In the last year I have learned how to shave quickly and without cutting myself, and have learned a lot about the art of stropping and lather making! I have loved every time i have shaved for the last year!

Now it is time for me to send off my razor to get honed... I should have done it a while ago!

    -CS
