    Default Impatience

I finally got my straight (dovo special) and strop from Tony today (customs slowed delivery I think), and was very excited to open the box - I wasn't disappointed. Straights look 10 times nicer in the flesh , and the strop is beautiful too. I had thought about waiting a bit before I shaved with it to practice stropping, however, the razor seemed to pass the HHT with ease so I thought why not! I haven't shaved for 5 days by this evening (in anticipation of my straight I couldn't bring myself to look at the mach3)and had quite a beard going on so I had a few butterflies in the stomach, but they were all misplaced. The shave was very smooth and I didn't even nick myself or cause irritation. I didn't try to get the closest shave and used the least pressure I could. I didn't do much on the second pass (can't bring myself to shave against ), nevertheless, I was very happy with the results. I still have a lot to learn though, but I'm looking forward to it .

Congrats! Good work. I rarely shave against the grain. I wouldn't sweat it. With practice you can find the right angle and direction to get a wicked close shave without ever going "against" the grain.

Excellent! I can't bring myself to use a "safety" razor anymore, either. Just seems too....wussy.

    Andrew,

Congratulations on your success. You have now started down
the path to an addiction. You will be itching for another razor
in no time ( if you aren't already ). Then there are all these
soaps and creams that need trying......
