    Default Aftershave Pass

For as long as I've been shaving I've been doing touchups with the razor after applying aftershave. Back in my multiblade cartridge days I would shave, then do my aftershave splash, and then touch up any areas that weren't BBS.

I had been doing the same thing with the straight razor. A little over a month ago I was about to do my aftershave splash, but I had a bunch of lather left that I didn't want to dump down the drain.
On a whim, I put my AS in my remaining soap lather, applied it like normal lather, and shaved another pass.
The results were fantastic, but I thought that maybe it was a psychosomatic kind of thing, where I talked myself into thinking the results were better because I had done something new.

I have been experimenting with the technique over the past month, and am now convinced that it does make a difference. I mentioned it in the chat one night, and it was requested that I start a thread about it if I continued to get good results.

    A few notes:

I don't have sensitive skin, and I enjoy the burn of aftershave. This is definitely a deal where YMMV if you decide to give it a try.

You will go through a lot more aftershave than you normally do. It takes a little bit more than a normal splash for me to make the AS lather, and then I apply AS again when I am done.

The AS will kill your lather when you add it. You'll need to re-whip the lather to get it to come back. I have never had a time yet where the lather hasn't returned, but I do need to whip it after adding the AS. The lather that's made with the AS isn't quite the same quality as it is before the AS, but between whipping it in the scuttle, and applying it to the skin it ends up being every bit as good by the time I pass the blade over it.

    Has anyone else tried this?

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
