I would have shut out everything from my mind, despite all the battles, and begun my shaving ritual with a pristine mind. That's difficult to do, I realize, and I don't fault you for shaving with a troubled mind. I can only assume that you viewed your task more as a challenge and a way to vent your anger rather than to calm down and relax.
Next time you face another such storm, start brushing your mind in a clear tone from the moment you enter the shower and stay with your task throughout the shave. Throw everything else out but the shaving ritual, because that's the only thing that matters. It's hard to do, yes, but it is worth the try. You'll be surprised at how well you do.
That's where the Zen comes into the world of wet shaving with the straight razor: shut everything else out and focus on the shaving ritual. Thanks for sharing your experience, my friend. Stay well.
