    Default One Year Anniversary

So, one year ago today I took my very first Straight Razor Shave. I received for Christmas an SRD complete set, with a Dovo 6/8 Special, 3" latigo strop, Simpsons brush and SRD Lime Soap. And so it began...

Many hours of frustration, a bit of blood, a whole lot of razor burn, and more money than I thought I'd ever spend on shaving.

    The result:
    1. The most satisfaction I've received in learning something new in my adult life.
    2. Meeting more friends and gentlemen than at any other time in my life.
    3. The best shave I have ever had in my life - ever!
    4. Inspiration to loose 30 lbs.

I would like at this moment to footnote a good friend of mine here at SRP and borrow his realizations in the art of the Straight Razor. The key to this art is pressure - and a whole lot less than one would think. In honing, stropping, whipping up lather and shaving, the amount of pressure used is one of the very key elements to success.

So, today, in honor of the one year anniversary, I broke out and used all of the very same equipment that I used one year ago today. I cannot believe the difference from then till now. Exceptional comfort and a stellar shave - 3 passes in 20 minutes. What more could one ask for?

Did I mention the thanks to all of my friends at SRP for helping, coaching and encouraging throughout this journey?

My deepest, sincerest heart felt thank you. Especially to Lynn who spent an entire day with me teaching me how to restore and hone a razor. Thank you Lynn.

Edit: I meant to foot note Stubear relative to the comments on "pressure bering key". Many apologies.
