Public service announcement! Why not to shave with one eye open

Ok so I don't have time in the morning for a good shave with a straight. I tend to shave at night. I think now you can see why the topic and were this is going. :banghead:

So I'm tired just put the kids to sleep. Take my shower for the pre-shave prep. The shave went pretty good nice and close almost BBS. I am very happy. But wait this is when it all goes down the drain.

I started to clean up around my goatee. I swear I don't know how this happens but I put the blade straight to my face a full 90 degrees. Next think I see is blood all over my face wow what a idiot I am :banghead: . Sceptic pen and alum to the rescue. 15 min later the blood stops.

This is a warning to all the kids out there don't play with straight razor when you are about to pass out!!

That's why God gave us DE razors!<g>

haha i guess you learn from experience. if you don't have time to get a nice straight shave, use a safety razor during the week. then get a sweet straight shave on the weekends! good luck to you.

How long have you been using a straight? I think this is more a matter of practice. I can do a full shave with my eyes closed and suspect I might be able to do it in my sleep. As it becomes more instinctive, I think such mistakes will at least diminish.

I have been shaving for about a month with a straigh. Had a lil nick here and there but nothing like this.

Sometimes i wedge the razor into a hole in the wall and move my face around the razor instead of the normal moving my razor round my face ;)

I once woke up with the side of my face and pillow crusted with blood. I guess I had cut my ear with the spike point, and went directly to bed and never realized.

Not a great morning :)

Every now and then this comes up, and I'm still not sure why anyone would want, or even have the desire, to attempt this. :shrug: Unless you're planning on going blind someday, of course. Just because you can doesn't mean you should....

I have a "little" scar on my chin that reminds me every time I shave to pay as much attention as humanly possible. Now I focus so hard on what I'm doing, I've had kids slam their hand on the bathroom door saying "I GOTTA PEE" and it doesn't even bother me lol
