Thread: Public service announcement! Why not to shave with one eye open

Ok so I don't have time in the morning for a good shave with a straight. I tend to shave at night. I think now you can see why the topic and were this is going.

So I'm tired just put the kids to sleep. Take my shower for the pre-shave prep. The shave went pretty good nice and close almost BBS. I am very happy. But wait this is when it all goes down the drain.

I started to clean up around my goatee. I swear I don't know how this happens but I put the blade straight to my face a full 90 degrees. Next think I see is blood all over my face wow what a idiot I am . Sceptic pen and alum to the rescue. 15 min later the blood stops.

This is a warning to all the kids out there don't play with straight razor when you are about to pass out!!

That's why God gave us DE razors!<g>

haha i guess you learn from experience. if you don't have time to get a nice straight shave, use a safety razor during the week. then get a sweet straight shave on the weekends! good luck to you.

How long have you been using a straight? I think this is more a matter of practice. I can do a full shave with my eyes closed and suspect I might be able to do it in my sleep. As it becomes more instinctive, I think such mistakes will at least diminish.

I have been shaving for about a month with a straigh. Had a lil nick here and there but nothing like this.

Sometimes i wedge the razor into a hole in the wall and move my face around the razor instead of the normal moving my razor round my face

I once woke up with the side of my face and pillow crusted with blood. I guess I had cut my ear with the spike point, and went directly to bed and never realized.

Every now and then this comes up, and I'm still not sure why anyone would want, or even have the desire, to attempt this. Unless you're planning on going blind someday, of course. Just because you can doesn't mean you should....

I have a "little" scar on my chin that reminds me every time I shave to pay as much attention as humanly possible. Now I focus so hard on what I'm doing, I've had kids slam their hand on the bathroom door saying "I GOTTA PEE" and it doesn't even bother me lol
