I just had the best shave of my life with a new razor...but I don't understand why...
Ok here is the drill:
I took a shower with colleens Lavender pure EO soap
then I lathered up with her Lavender EO cream.
My new razor
TAGMSC aftershave
I then used my new razor I got from Bill:

So the first thing I noticed was that this razor doesnt feel like its its cutting hair. Now keep in mind I know what a sharp blade is all my razors have been honed by Bill, John C. or Lynn. But this razor feels like its just going over my face...and hair is just falling off before it even gets there. one with the grain pass with this razor is almost as good as a with/cross/against the grain shave.
The next thing I noticed that the edge of this blade is angled its not straight and flat. The angle works with the contour of my face because the hangle that that any razoe is held is not perfectly straight.
The blade is a wedge and its heavy...maybe the heaviest blade I have used...but not by much so I dont think its the extra weight....
So ummm...why does it shave so well???
It's got a silencer on it
JL,
I'm not sure if this solves the mystery but I suspect that your new razor is sharp (I think that's the technical term.)
It's also a real beauty.
Okay, smart aleck mode off. I experience the same "I can't believe it's really cutting" phenomena with a 1/4 ground W&B. These heavy blades don't ping when cutting like the thin singing blades do. Without that familiar audible feedback, it's easy to think that nothing is happening.
At least that's my story.
