...I'm REALLY finding using the heel of my razor to cut around the edge of my goatee very satisfying. I'm not sure why; I just do...
I actually think I might make a video soon, just so people can see how (in my humble opinion) much one can learn in five weeks if one shaves each and every day from the outset with a straight (twice on one mad, dizzy, 'cast all cares aside' day :D)...
I think I might grow a goatee to check that out.

It would be great to see a video of your progression, I keep telling people that it is a skill that can be easily mastered with persistence.

I always use the heel to trim around my mustache and goatee - they don't meet and I get much more control at the heel than I would at the toe, especially in the tricky areas at the corner of my mouth. Probably because the heel is much closer to my fingers than the toe.
Yeah, makes sense, mine don't meet either (you might me able to tell via my DP), my one and only razor at the moment is a spike, and it's a bit iffy using the point to trim...Quote:

On a supporting note to your post, one of the other posters to this thread, tonycraigo, wrote that he uses the heel for around his goatee because the heel is close to his fingers and therefore, he has better control. I agree with him; I do the same thing. It's worth mentioning in your video.

Regardless, point being, I like using the heel to cut around my goatee and I've learnt a lot, 'nuff said...

I routinely use the heel of the razor to buff my chin and shave the cleft. I find I have lots more control that way.

Naaaa, tried the video, I've only got a digital camera that takes videos, not an actual video camera, so it was a little iffy. ALSO, I had to post in on facebook first, that caused two problems (a) my facebook privacy settings only allowed friends to see it here, and (b) I got a HUGE amount of "OMG dad, what did you do THAT for! You're weird!" from my daughter and "What? He did WHAT!" from my wife. I DID try to explain, but they just shook their heads...Quote:
