Default This Might Sound Silly, But...

...I'm REALLY finding using the heel of my razor to cut around the edge of my goatee very satisfying. I'm not sure why; I just do...

I actually think I might make a video soon, just so people can see how (in my humble opinion) much one can learn in five weeks if one shaves each and every day from the outset with a straight (twice on one mad, dizzy, 'cast all cares aside' day )...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I think I might grow a goatee to check that out.

    Hi Carlmaloschneider,

It would be great to see a video of your progression, I keep telling people that it is a skill that can be easily mastered with persistence.

I will give the goatee technique a go in Movember before I go the Mo!

I always use the heel to trim around my mustache and goatee - they don't meet and I get much more control at the heel than I would at the toe, especially in the tricky areas at the corner of my mouth. Probably because the heel is much closer to my fingers than the toe.

Yeah, makes sense, mine don't meet either (you might me able to tell via my DP), my one and only razor at the moment is a spike, and it's a bit iffy using the point to trim...

Actually, I was thinking this morning, "Who am I to think I could post a vid already, like I KNOW anything!", but I guess for those who may be in the situation I was in 6 weeks ago, filled with trepidation and maybe thinking "might not persevere with this", at least my video would show I've still got a nose and not too many horrible scars...and you're right, just a bit of patience, and lurking around this site constantly like a weirdo, and a good deal of obsession gets one a long way!

Might do it on the morrow when the wife and kids aren't around (they would NOT understand)...

Yeah, and another thing, corners of the mouth, and also the what do you call it? Bit of growth under the bottom lip; is it a 'spike', dunno, anyhoo, how do you trim that? I'm hoping the natural 'no grow areas' will take care of that, I'm eternally gratefully I have a moustache, goatee and little bit under the bottom lip thing now I've taken up SR shaving, I'd hate to have to shave those areas! YET, I fear I may need a trim on the under the bottom lip thingy, to shape it to a nice triangle, and I will NOT resign myself to using anything BUT a SR, I shall NOT Sir!

I think the video is a great idea. Thus far, noone has posted discouraging you from posting a video. You will make a nice contribution to this forum.
I have a goatee too and I have been using the heel of my straight for getting in tight for a nice trim.

On a supporting note to your post, one of the other posters to this thread, tonycraigo, wrote that he uses the heel for around his goatee because the heel is close to his fingers and therefore, he has better control. I agree with him; I do the same thing. It's worth mentioning in your video.

Yeah, I agree with Tony too, and thanks for the encouragement. I guess if I DO post a video, at least I might get some positive criticism? Thanks for the encouraging post, much appreciated...

I think the video is a great idea, it will encourage people who are just starting out, by showing just what is possible if you make the effort to learn.
