Haha .. i feel you with the weather :rofl2:
Wow!..thats a great vid...I had a question for you..when you say the Feather has a heavier weight to it where the blade area is..how do you feel this compares to a wedge grind western straight razor..I have never tried a wedge razor and think it might do my VERY coarse and thick beard justice though..once again I enjoy ALL your vid's on youtube as well

Great vid as always, Thomas! I have to admit to being surprised at how close a shave you got with those WTG passes, surely a testament to the Feather :D
Cheers,
Ryan
Awesome video man, thanks for sharing.
I have a Feather AC SS folding, and nothing eliminate whiskers as easily as Feathers. It's not replacing my straights anytime soon, but I really enjoy having it my rotation. It gives me a BBS easier than most straights, but it's almost like cheating. :)
I have KAI and enjoy it enormously. Thanks for the video!
Wow! Your beard just peeled off like wallpaper! Great video! Now I want one.
Hello, Thomas: Another fine video. Indeed, those Feathers are sharp and slick shavers. I have the Artist Club in the wood handle and use it as a backup on trips mostly. Also, when a straight isn't sharp enough on a given shave, I switch over to the Feather. You seem to have found the ideal straight razor and that's what matters. Well done, sir.
I sooo almost just bought one! I was just about to click the 'buy now' button But then i realized that i need the money for another item lol
I have passed those razors on eBay heaps of times and i have looked at them but i couldn't justify the price of a disposable type razor. I think you sold me though, they do look cool and smooth to shave with.
Next pay hehe
Thanks for the video, I've only been using a feather RG for two weeks but I love how it shaves, it was actually one of your video's that made me try the feather for a head shave, a lot easier then when I use a straight. I have a SS model on the way and I'll use them in my rotation.
The Feather open blade razor (folding or Japanese style)
are good little razors. Little known is that there are three
slightly differently sized blades that change the way the
razor shaves. They are all sharp as stink and shave well.
For me a Feather is my gold standard. If the moon and
sun are lined up just so I can hone and strop a blade to be
sharper and smoother but mostly not. The Feather has taught
me a lot and will continue to be have a place in my mug
of good to go razors.
Do visit the Feather site.. There is some good info
on how to clean, sanitize and even sterilize some of them.
@niftyshaving I only have experience with the super blades so far, super professionals are on the way and there are some guarded blades included with the SS. And I ordered some Kai milds. Out of my collection of straights there are but a few that shave that good as a Feather, not planning on getting my straights out of the door, I enjoy them too much, but it's a great shaving tool, especially for shaving my head, I can do it with a straight but then it looses it's sharpness rather quickly. About the Feather site, any link? I went to the Japanese site but couldn't find much of info. Probably going to try a Japanese style Feather in the future. Have a nice day, Ron
Gent, do you leave the blade in the razor between shaves?
I do but some people wrote they got rust on the blade when they leave it in, I've noticed a tiny little bit of rust so I now clean the blade after each shave and just put it back in. Just tested the first blade (super blade) I've ever used, still passes the hanging hair test with the finest hair sample I have (after 6 normal shaves and 4 full head shaves).
After a shave I take out the blad and rinse it under water and clean it shallowly with my fingers. I then insert the blade into the razor again. Except the Japanese style, since it does not fold up, I leave the blade lying on the shelf so as not to cut myself. I have never had any rust on my blades, even though I store them in a little humid bathroom.

A number of our famous web sites have one, two or all three blade types.
This site in japan has some info (sorry for the odd looking links):

On the topic of sanitation...
From my browsers translation in the first above link:
"Whole body scald OK!
"disinfection 1. Boil 2. Please do ethanol disinfection.
"※ DX is a pressurized steam sterilization (autoclave) is possible.
"Ethanol for disinfection ※ (76.9 ~ 81.4VOL%) Please use the.
"Sodium hypochlorite disinfection of prolonged ※ Please be
"avoided holder comes to corrosion."
So corrosion from repeated soaking in bleach
risks corrosion. Boiling and autoclave should
be OK as should the likes of alcohol or Barbisol.
It disassembles for ease of cleaning. Do not
reuse blades for multiple customers.

thanks for the links
I love your videos! Thanks!
I can safely say I've never gotten one of my vintage straights quite that sharp. Looked like a costume beard the way that came off!
Thanks for another fine video. As always, excellent. I love the ease you make it look using one of the feather razors, makes me want to put one in my shaving rotation now!
Thomas, have you tried the new SS Feather razor? I recently got one (folding version) and I must say I prefer my RG for shaving my face but just discovered that for head shaving the SS works much better.
the new Feather, the part where you put the blade in has a new design that's suppose to give a shave with less danger of cutting yourself. that's very well possible, don't know really as I have had no cuts with the regular version of the feather.

I really liked your video's about the feather razor, it made me try it for a head shave, love it, much better then with a straight!
Who is selling these in US?
Thanks for that......A Great video....You made that look Sooooo easy...And I know it isn't....I can't believe how easily you shifted those whiskers.
