Thanked: 0My first BBS shave
It´s been a long way since i started with the straight shave. First time i tried it was like a ten years before, but i quitted very soon, simply i didnt had a little idea of how to do it. So i returned to my Gillete Disposable 2 blades cartridges (there was no mach 3 yet) eventually i was trying but always get hurted and i had no information or guide on how to acomplish the task.
It was like year before that i really took it as a challenge and i began to investigate about, and i found this forum then i got my first really straight razor (a boker) and began the process of purchase all the equipment and began to study the technics of the art of shaving. In fact im still having a lot of doubts on honing and stroppin properly.
But i managed to shave without cutting myself and it was a victory itself.
One day i was looking in the downtown of the city where i live here in Mexico and i found was i was looking for: A Mug or Bowl for lather, but it has one problem, they didnt sell it separately but in a "combo" with a straight razor disposable cartridges and i was thinking about let it pass since the fact i didnt want the razor and the cartridges, but i dont know why i decided to buy it.
I didnt know even the brand of the razor, i didnt care, i was only interested in the bowl.
I thought about give the razor as a present to my hair stylist but i never did it.
Today i saw the razor and the cartridges and abruptally i decided give it a chance.
with the experience of the proper holding of the straight and the experience of the "the less you pressure, the better" i began to prepare my face with a thin layer of neutrogena shaving cream (the one in the tube not in a can) that cream does not make lather, after that a i lather the nomad crabtree shaving cream and i started.
Since the first moment i felt the the smothnes of the shave i did carefully but not hesitant, with my hand very firm but without pressure. it took me 15 minutes to discover totally out of the blue that i got a really BBS for the first time.
After i was done i was wondering what razor is this? i took my glasses and the magnifier to take a look; i saw the brand name "Captain Blade" and the letter KAI and the "Made in Japan".
Then i searched on Internet and read something about the brand but i want to hear your opinion: what happened? it was the razor? the sharpness? or the combination of my experience with the straight with the sharpness of the blade?
Talk to me guys im just trying to understand what happened.
Sincerely
sergio
