My Japanese barbers un asked for statement
So yesterday went to take my son to the Osaka zoo but alas it was closed . So what's a dad to do well , I noticed a barbers across from the main gate so I decided to get a shave.
Well sliding the door open I was treated to well the accumulation of over fifty years of business and cats. I hate cats .
So he looks at me and I look at him in that glance we both understood neither spoke the others language.
Thank god for my son . Quick as a flash I am sat in one of two chairs in the small shop where he lathered me up with some regular soap and an old boar brush slapped some hot towel on my face and made ready his kamasori .
This was a very interesting shave because he was fast and the genius of it was it felt like he was pinching the skin to get close.
What he said about most at home shavers is that they strive for too close a shave and end up doing damage to their skin, so maybe shouldn't try to shave so close if you get bumps and ingrown hair go a little lighter.
Kinda sad in a way to listen to what he had to say his shop used to have eight chairs , used to sponsor a baseball team , used to be the hub of the neighborhood. Now the chairs and spirited conversations have been replaced by the faded and dusty memorabilia of the past, oh and the smell of cats.
Stupid good shave though next time I am I here I will go back and hope he is still open.
