A rotation is somewhere between 2 and ∞.
Too many is when your SWMBO throws you out...

Would a thousand be too many? Naaaa!

Never too many. I think i have about 135 shave ready ones. Another 100 waiting to be shave ready. Granted i plan to sell a bunch

I have 48 razors those i use in my rotation, some of them i use 2 or 3 times en then go on to te next.
I want 366 razors so i can use everyday a differend razor.:y:nj

My case holds 22 razors, and naturally I have MANY more. When I do shave with my own razors I too will keep one for a few days/shaves as I rediscover why I put it in the case as a "keeper". Personally I feel that it is too much for a "rotation", as each of my blades are quite different from maker, grind, size, stone finished on, and so on. I feel that a rotation should be the razors you are most intimate with...so my opinion is 7 or less to keep the intimacy ongoing, close & personal.

I think shooter has a point when he talks about keeping things intimate. If your rotation is too large you will never truly "get to know" the razors you are using. Every razor has its own character and nuances that define it. If your rotation is so large that you only use a razor a few times a year I think you're missing out. How many razors make up an intimate rotation, however, is certainly open to debate.

I have about 20 razors, but I have 12 in my current rotation. I just wish i could shave more than once a day!

My collection is around 120. Everyone of them is shave ready and everyone goes into the weekly rotation or can cut in line of the rotation. Thats the must fun of collecting these wonderful pieces of history. Using them the way they were intended. Not to stare at them through glass. I dont care how old or pricey the razor is I use them all and love every minute of it.

2 would be ideal. A carbon steel razor & stainless steel razor. I'm still looking.
