    Default My new Travel Roll

Hey guys...been a while since I posted so I'd start with something a little different then the usual "across the grain or against the grain" post. Anyway, had a little time to make myself a leather travel roll to take when I'm on the go. Might be kind of dorky and I have thick skin so all comments welcome whether you love it or hate it. It's kind of wide but the travel strop rolls up in the middle nicely. That is some thick leather too so it made it kind of heavy but looks like something a cowboy would have. Enjoy.

Very nice!! Did you make the plastic pockets too? Can you snap a picture of where the strop goes?

Just don't forget and leave your razor in there when you go through security at an airport

sure.....here's a couple more pics. I added another buckle, a loop to hang it on the towel rack and how it protects the travel strop. Also shows the back plastic pockets where smaller items can be hidden. I'm thinking about cutting down the strop by an inch or two so the whole thing can fit inside. Good idea or no?

    Thanks for looking.

That's fantastic. What is the overall width? That will determine whether you can really cut the strop shorter. I guess if you have a scrap piece of leather that you can use, try a strip that is that much shorter and see if you can comfortably strop with it, if you can, then you're good to go! Or perhaps just hold the strop up a couple inches higher and see if that is comfortable.

I really love the rustic look, you are absolutely correct with the cowboy reminiscence. I guess I should get down to my Tandy store and pick up some more leather. That looks like it was fun to make!

instead of cutting the strop have you tried rolling it up (finished side out) with your shaving kit bag?
