Why you keep your hands clear of the starter and flywheel, on a outboard motor.
A first for me, after 20 some years of working on them.
Like straights, gotta keep your mind on what your doing. As soon as you don't......

Wow
I will not give that a like
Really sorry that happened
I'm guessing it really smarted
That’s brutal Mike. I hope it heals as fast as it can. It will piss you off for many days to come. As much as it hurts, wash it often.
It happened so fast.! Its been over an hour, and its just now starting to hurt some. Doc says no stitches, no meat to sew together. Keep it clean and bandaged.
A splint that is flexible aluminum with a foam inside might be a good idea to protect it from you. I would wash it and air it four times a day. Clean bandages and away you go. It is likely going to leak for about five days so frequent bandage changes and super clean will help it heal fast.
Ouch! Hope it heals quick.
Nasty wound there my friend. I really like this product for things like that. They come in different sizes. They come with an applicator in the package. It can be used as a brace to protect the tip. You can also have a gauze pad under the tube and on top under the guard.

Holy cow Mike.
I'm with Dave. Can't see anything to like there.
Roy's idea looks to be about as good as it gets.
My idea...Bourbon...
Hope ya heal quickly brother!!
Pete <:-}
Holy crap!!
That made my hand hurt.
Keep it clean. Keep it dry. Bind it up.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Crikey, that looks nasty. Hope you heal well.
Being a builder, I have flattened my thumb on numerous occasions so I can sympathise. Digits are painful.
Oh man Mike :dropjaw:(ouch) the prices we pay for a day on the water. tying knots might be a bit harder for a while..
Sucks Mike. That looks like something I'd do. I feel your pain. When I split my finger in half recently the wife said no more working on cars. My response was I've been working on cars for over 30 years and this is the first time I've hurt myself more than a scratch so I think I'm doing pretty well..
Damn Mike.
Heal quickly. Or as quickly as possible and protect it well for a while.
Well, so far the pain hasn't been too bad. What really sucks is I'm already overdue for a shave. Its already been a week since my last.

I can shave very little with my left hand, so its gonna be a clipper shave for tomorrow, or I will need stitches.
Good thing I wipe my arse with my left hand. :rofl2:
Way too much information Mike.
I never thought I would be able to give you shaving advice Mike.
When I started shaving and cut myself, often. You advised me to leave it for a few days and let myself heal up a bit.
In hindsight that was good advice, even if I didn't really take it.
So your advice back at ya, just slum it for a bit.
I agree with Steve. Give your face a holiday.
You might decide to let the beard fill in as long as SWMBO approves.
Its just starting into the itch stage. If I can deal with 3 more days of itch, I'll be good ta go. Working in the heat with a beard sucks
Hope you don’t have to give the fish too much of a break, Mike.
Hope you don’t have to give the fish too much of a break, Mike.
There's always the zippo method.
TC had his second knee done today and everything went well.
Good to hear. Thanks for the update Dave.
Hope your up and about soon.
I'm expecting to have it done quite soon too so I'll watch your recovery with interest.
TC is home and doing well
Walked 4 hours after the surgery
Amazing
Nothing amazes me when it comes to Tc.
Well I asked for permission to post this but I haven't heard back. So I'll take my chances with Tc wrath!! Tc Please Forgive Me!
One of my dad's favorite saying was "Top that or play a face card" which means Top This. So I present the ultimate Cut Of The Day:
