    Default Love Drunk

Hey guys, its been a while since I have been on here or shaved with a straight =0. So a number of months ago, my two straights lost their sharpness, and for what ever reason, i just didnt want to send them in, and I have never honed.. for a while I was in the dark corner shaving with a filthy disposal razor, never the less i was still using a brush! Anyways, more reverently they opened up an AOS store by me, so I purchased a DE, it wasn't to bad for shaving, but wasnt any straight.. Then about a month later it was my birthday, I received a sampler pack of DE blades, a double side Jap water stone, and some other fun toys, all from SRD of course. After some mental prep, I honed my first razor! Let me tell you how great it is to use a straight again! I fell in in love with them all over again. lol. Its great to be back.

Oh man! I thought we had lost you to the dark side! I am glad you have found it in yourself to recover.

I think his custom title should read - "Self Correcting" LOL.

Congrats btw - how did you find honing? I loved it when I first started. Moreover, knowing you are self sufficient makes it all that much better!

That's prob a better title lol..I was pretty nervous to hone. I had always watched videos. But I feel like rocket science would be easier than honeing for some reason.. I was nervous to do it.. but it worked out great!

I'm sure you will master honing in short order since you don't appear to have a large collection of SRs and of course, you'll always want that "scary" sharp razor for the ultimate type shaves. Personally, my life became very simplified after I bought a real nice BBW/Coticule Combo stone. It is the jones. It's all I ever need for a quick and very effective hone job. In fact, might I be so bold to say that people in this community I believe overcomplicate the novice and scare them away. A good stone; a fine strop; some chrox paste and maybe a bench strop with a couple of squirts of .25 mic. diamond spray and you should be all set. Just don't forget: use the electric tape on the spine and mineral oil to clean the blade. Enjoy!
