Just got back from 2 weeks of vacation and thanks to the SWMBO's patience got to hit quite a few antique stores. Found this nice Illinois strop in Iowa. It says genuine horsehide, barbers special with the number 6452 on the bottom. I've tried to find out some info on it and have even written to the company ( who i'm still waiting to hear from) and haven't found anything. There is one for sale on the bay right now with an interesting story though. It says,"This listing is for an antique genuine horsehide razor strop. This belonged to my 87 year old husband's father. My husband, as a boy of 5 to 7? years old, saw his father use this. How much older it is, we're not sure. It is imprinted Genuine Horse Hide."
Mine need some cleaning but I'm hoping it makes a good strop. i'll still make myself a beginners strop to practice on before I attempt using it.
