    Default RAD Strikes Again!!

I was out on the town today, when i decided to stop at an antique store i had never been too.

Long story short, this is what i left with.

    J.R. Torrey Razor
Its got a ton of potential, almost no rust at all, just a few very very small dots here and there.
It needs to be polished, and honed. Then it should be shave ready.
It was given as a gift to me by the elderly woman running the place.
She knows that these have become insanely popular here, so she started buying them. But cannot get them to sell to save her life.
So, i gave her the rundown on what to look for, from country's of origin, to hone wear, blade chips, and rust.
It took about 45 min to explain to her, using several of her razors as a visual.
I expressed interest in this one, but didnt have enough money, so out of gratitude, she gave it to me
She even had a beautiful wade&butcher that was a full wedge, and had some very beautiful scales. But the edge was quite well chipped.
Being a full wedge, i figure it could be ground to a half hollow or whatnot, and that would take care of that.. or simply honed out, the chips where numerous, but not to deep.

If anyone has any information on these razors, it would be very much appreciated if you could share.

Next, one i actualy bought as a project
GRS Solingen (stamped on the reverse side of the tang, encircled. its noticeable in the picture.

    RICHARTS
    SOLINGEN
    GERMANY
is stamped on the face side, next to a whale on the surface, blowing a spout of water. The number 9207 is stamped next to that.

It has a small bit of rust on the bottom right side of the "CRAFTSMAN" logo, but everything else seen in the picture appears to be stain? probably patina from age.. but i have no clue.

I also went to another store and found a beautiful wade and butcher that could be brought back to life.. but didnt have enough money to get it (asking $40)
So i put some down on it, and will be getting it with my next paycheck
Hirlau, RezDog and Phrank like this.

If it's one like you linked to, that's a nice blade...very hard to go wrong with W&B in my opinion!

Let us know when you get it!!

    Sure thing, I'll post pictures

I do remember that on the tail end by the silver cap. There was a silver W B if that means anything.
The one in the picture has just the silver end.
Im going to see if i can find it on google.

Yeah.. i cannot remember exactly what it looked like :/
Its a common thing for me. it makes going from store to store to "compare" razors, a very annoying thing to do

    Anywho.
I have been polishing on that JP Torrey for the past few hours now

Here is it, as it sits right this very second.

I have been polishing on this one.
Its going to need to be sent out to get the pitting removed, and scales built.
But i do see some beautiful potential!
(CRAFTSMAN is still there, it just seems that the color filling the engraving came out with the polishing)
