They look to be in pretty good condition.

Very nice razors. They are in good usable shape, and probably just need to be honed properly. Alternatively they could be restored to excellent shape.

I have both and they are great shavers.

It's a finer grit than the top side, and it's tan in color.
It's a 00 Frictionite my barber ordered for me about 35 years ago.

One of the stones and the strop, along with both razors, were the "standard issue" for that particular barber school in 1963.
i hope to restore one or both of the razors into shaving condition and use them if I can learn the process without needing more than 3 pints of blood. the gentleman that gave me the razors told me he would keep 911 on speed dial on his phone for the next couple of months just in case.

welcome to the forum. to start with please watch all the videos on utube about straight razor shaving. that will give you some great infol . good luck.

I've watched a bunch of the videos and they sure make it look easy!
My DE stuff was in the mail box this morning so I'll start out slow and move up gradually.

I honed and stropped the razors last night and experimented on a couple days of stubble I'd been saving up. They might need to go to an expert for a good edge.

Just imagine the challenge of learning the sport without all the available invaluable info... Honestly, I have a hard time imagining such a world.

+1 on getting them pro-honed. This way you have the standard to compare your future newly acquired razors and hones. There a bunch of fantastic honemeisters here. I went the same route.
