Let the GOOD TIMES ROLL! :D

I expected a little more from that microscope but man does it take nice shots of the blade :D

I like that view.
IMO, the most needed. It is good to see a pic which will be useful in honing.
Some pics shown at higher magnification seem to become useless. It all looks like crap! :D
Use a flat black background, or the back dark green of a scotch bright pad.
Think light physics, Absorption not reflection of surrounding light. dont make it complicated. Angling the blade will accentuate the bevel base to apex view. Give it time. Good image. 1 picture is worth a 1000 words, plus you have documentation. Oh and that is my day job see my handle. If you dont have a picture it didnt happen. great share.
Do you see how a few striations go from blade all the way to the apex (top) of the bevel?
That is an area to work on.

See how this image has more contrast? black background.
Also the striations are at 45 degree angle to the striations of the blade.
That tells observers that I honed with an X stroke across the hone.
Both OUR image show a single bevel. Base to apex is a single homogeneous area. No double bevels on either picture.
Be very clear you did a great job.
You will become better , these factors listed are the main criteria to best evaluate your stellar work.
I bought a cheapo 2MP 25X-250X.
Noted. By the way that is some nice edge you got there :) I hope to hone close to that level someday. I just looked under the microscope at another razor I honed and before no matter how hard I looked without it, it seemed perfect. Now I see how much microchipping I have on that edge... Thanks for the tips!
Tom
Please just ask. Thats what we are here for. Someone, well several people mentored me, my first pics were ones only a parent could love. You are way ahead of me.
I wish... That picture you took as my work is from a razor I haven't honed that is giving me some problems and I just wanted to test the device as well as look what's going on with the edge :) It'll take me a while to get there. At least I have those 2 gold dollars coming which will be nice practice :)
Cheers,
Tom
Good idea for a thread!
I'm waiting on .25 diamond paste, a set of red and black scales from Whipped Dog, and I think I'm forgetting something! Oh yeah, a smartphone repair kit (mini screw drivers etc).
6/8 wade and butcher wedge! I will put in some serious hours on this blade but it should clean up well.
