    Default USMC Clauss shadow box

A good friend asked if I could restore and hone a USMC for his buddy, a retired Marine. Naturally, I agreed as I have done 2 previously for jarheads, gratis. Bad luck to turn a Marine down!

Poor thing was toast. Too much rust, swiss cheeze bevel and a crack thru the belly in the middle of the blade!

I consoled the man as best I could and offered to do a shadow box with it. He sent me a Barracks cover (which I have learned is the emblem worn on the hat), and his rank emblem. I found a Clauss box with an inscribed date of 1906 and some other numbers, so it was in the ballpark.

It all came together good. I did a brushed finish on the blade and slathered it good with TufGlide, polished up the scales, made many small holes in the underside bevels of the box and stuffed it with dessicant packs.
    OooooRah!

Hey that's sharp. When you described it to me the other day I had no idea how great that will look.
    Artistic you are. Well done.....

Thanks, Buddy! Means a lot! Thanks to all. I like doing the shadow boxes with old heirlooms! Try to preserve them! Make them seen!

    That is AWESOME!

Hate that the Gunny's razor didn't play out, but you did a magnificent job on it for him. Gary's good people and you're one of the best.

    A heartfelt thanks from me.
