Thanked: 1The razor that started it all
My Great grandfathers razor. My mother mailed it to me after I told her I was interested in straight shaving. Got it honed and never looked back.

It looks to be in good shape for being out of use for awhile. Congrats!

Thanked: 4822my great grandfathers razor was what started it all for me too. I bring it out for special shaves and when I'm feeling a little nostalgic. Nothing shave quite like an heirloom razor.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

DD Special #1 or DD Dwarf? Looks too long for a Dwarf?
Either way, an excellent shaving, and quality razor!
A couple of my favorites!!

Howard

Thanked: 1It's a DD Spec No 1. He died before I was born but this way it's nice to know we share something in common. He was a WW1 veteran and a hard working man. I am adding my history to the razor now and can only hope one day to pass it on and the art of SR shaving to one of my 3 sons.

good for you, family history and heirlooms are a great thing to be able to add to. I wish someone in my family had starights to pass down that I could do the same for, as far as I know nothing of the sort was ever saved to pass down so im the first in the line to be doing so. when my boys are old enough they will each get a mighty fine razor that they can pass on. by then I hope to have them making their own customs as well, I also believe heavily that skills passed down have far more value than goods. its something that seems to be falling by the wayside unfortunately, but the other side is also true- there seem to be more people conscious of it and want to change that leaning.
