Nice haul. All in the same place?
Never seen a W&B Chinese with a round point before. Always with a notch point.
When you die the straight razor estate market is going to be flooded in Kentucky ....... :rofl2:
Snagged this 5/8 Filarmonica 12 for basically nothing a little rough but seems salvageable
Oops forgot the pic

All but the filarmonica...spent around 200 bucks total...and probably 25 razors left there still lol.
Thats why I shall never die, razors make me immortal....
Or hopefully one of my 4 kids becomes a barber and keeps the tradition going.
Also my mother gave me a very nice vintage Illinois 6454 Barber's Special strop...has a nice very high on the strop but a little CA glue and it'll be fine...plus I don't tend to strop that high out of fear of catching the edge on the hardware.

Funny story though...when I asked the lady at the counter to open the case and get the razors out she cracked up laughing...said 2 guys the day before had asked to see the razors and they couldn't find the key...that vendor had like 30 keys for different cases...turns out that key worked for another display and someone had left the key in the lock....so I lucked out and got first picks on the razors!
Slow day at work = good day to hone these up lol
Wow, awesome finds!
Here's a brudder to that one. Now you've seen pics of two. :)

I'm seriously considering moving to Kentucky.
Do the markings actually mean anything or are they just pseudo-characters?
Here's a W Greaves & Sons I recently got my hands on.
Nice haul Dennis, I'm just wondering how you have the time to travel 100 miles each way to find these razors when you should be cutting hair:hmmm:
That's quite a haul indeed! Good finds! I really need to start getting around to find me some beauties like this!
I find that it pays to frequent the same shops often....there is one I probably average 2-5 straight razors a month from and 9 of them have been Wade & butchers
As always, great haul Dennis! Geez, I don't know if I'd like to have that many blades...how are you going to determine what are the keepers, and from there, which one's you're going to restore and add to your rotation?
Have you given any thought to taking some of the "less than stellar" razors, giving them a quick clean and made shave ready and selling them to your customers who may be interested in trying straight shaving?
The only ones I tend to keep are the early razors, Wade & Butchers, and Dubl Ducks, or any others that I tend to like lol....early sheffields are definitely my favorites though. Older nos unrestored ones definitely get kept though, but hard to find as well.
I already do the quick clean and hone for customers that are interested in trying wet shaving. Got about 9 people started on wet shaving in the last year.
That was the deal that I made with my wife. I was only supposed to keep a "select" few, turns out they are ALL select.
