Is the one with the tag on it the one he is keeping? It has different scales on it of course. Did he have anything else for sale?
Oh my, those are both wonderful.
My guess, on the mysterious gun-stock pattern one is 'Harrison's / Celebrated Razor / Sheffield'.
The letter just before the first 's' looks like an 'I', and Harrison is the best fit I can think of.
Which is all kinds of not helpful, since there were a lot of Harrisons working in the mid 1850's (which is my guess for when it was made).
And yes indeed, Rodgers DID make all kinds of oddballs. Here are a few of mine:

Sorry for my ignorance but why is it called "gunstock" ? Is it just the shape? At first I expected a checkered grip.
There's gotta be a reason why these are rare, may be similar to the reasons for the rarity of stub-handled scissors ;)
My oddest Rodgerses I decided to name 'Philistine point' - the third in this post http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...tml#post540087
Cool, could you post a pic of the razor closed.
Unusual to say the least. Damn it, back to ebay:aargh:
