    Default Odds and Ends

I picked up this stuff at an antique market today. Not a bad find, not a great one either but real cheap. A few double decker coffins (Greaves, Reynolds) a weekend case, more Sheffield boxes (W&B, Joseph Allen and George Johnson$ plus a fairly nice W&B chopper. The chopper has an Odd Fellows "FLT" chain link symbol etching. $wise there was no room for error on this one. Give me your thoughts and opinions. Thanks guys.

    What is a weekend case?

Thanks for sharing your finds. I really like antique stores and go at least once a month. I have come across empty razor boxes quote often and wonder what happened to the razors that go with the boxes.

A weekend case is a travel case that holds two razors. Lots of times they contain two identical shavers.

Neat stuff, Josh! Only trouble with finding old boxes is you start looking for a razzer to go with them!

Tom, as you can see there is some staining directly over the Odd Fellows etch. Would you recommend leaving it as is in order the save what's left. Maybe pass it on to an Odd Fellow???

Being that the symbol is basically crossed out, I considered loosing it and polishing the blade.

Well, I don't know if the Oddfellows still exist? Perhaps they do! Knowing you as I do, Josh, you certainly could be described as an odd fellow though! (Kidding!)
Seriously, seems not enough left to worry with from what I can see. If you leave it, that stain will have to stay, but a shame to polish it off, I suppose. Your call! You are not short of shavers...clean it up a bit, smack it into some period horn and display it. You can always take it off, but could never put it back!
    Another odd fellow,
    Tom

Here's a shot of that old weekend case after I gave it a lil TLC. It's still rough but fully functional.

The lid was detached so I glued and tacked a piece of leather to the back to serve as a hinge. Then I polished the metal and conditioned the rest of the exterior. The blue felt lining got a quick cleaning with a toothbrush and tiny bit of diluted carpet cleaner.

I'm no handy man but I had fun giving this old boy a breath of life!

So that is what is behind the FLT. I recently bought one with that logo, but will probably sand it off.
