Alps straight razor-Solingen

I recently got this Alps straight razor which has a very unique barber's notch. I guess that's a barber's notch! The blade needs a little attention but other than that, it is a nice piece. I'm not too crazy about the pins so when I do some work on the blade, I will change the pins unless I rework the blade w/o taking it apart. This is probably one of the worst looking razors I've ever shown but with a little work it will look much better. I could not find any history on it, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Somehow, I don't think that is a barber's notch.

Interesting old razor. Has it been buffed?

Unfortunately yes it has been buffed. I hate it when they do that because it is a little excessive. I don't think it is a barbers notch either but it appears to have been made that way unless the buffing is covering up an alteration of some sort.

Really................looking at it though it looks as if it were made that way!

Is the blade narrower at the toe than at the heel? The toe does look a bit odd. How about the cutting length of the blade, is it shorter than normal?

The toe is just a tad narrower than the heel but it looks like it was made that way. The blade looks normal, it doesn't appear to have been cut down or anything like that.
