done with the meat cleaver !!
well it arrived in super fast speed .. i started with 800grit to knock off some of the worse stuff , then up to 1500 ( not sanding all the lines out as i would have to start around 80 ..lol ) to kinda smooth it out and keep the antique look that it had ..
i treated the handle with tongue oil to preserve the wood a bit and polished up the copper bolts to make them pop a little bit and then was off to the 800 synthetic stone !! honestly i admit that i had no clue what i was doing but considering both sides had a bevel i figure i could use a close muscle memory angle on both sides by just back and forth motions .... i kept a tiny bevel as to not have a brittle edge and i can almost remove hairs with pressure so i figured that was good enough !! and if not i have a huge chunk of steel to work with to get it right ..
on a side note i found no makers marks but small imprints in both sides , maybe little stars or just dots in this shape < .. im sure they are there for a reason ..
just starting on both the W&B and cleaver
finished product !!
just enough to keep it old looking but fully functional and clean
