Size: 21.8 KB I was surprised when I won this razor. I thought to myself that some one must have seen something I didn't. well they did. the scales were broken on the opposite side. No matter. When looking at the blade it appeared that it had had very little honing. there was some etching on the blade but after a lot of polish and rubbing compound the darker spots stayed so I got out the sand paper and as was said in Mac Beth out damn spot . there are a few small discolorations but my hand began to hurt from my friend Arthur so I stopped cleaned it up some and threw a set of scales on it honed and shaved. It does shave well. I don't know much about the Joseph Smith name but figured it must be an ok razor. I've got a Fredrick Reynolds coming and I may wait until spring to work on it. I may have to buy a low rpm buffer it I keep this up. I ordered the small washers for the pins from Micro Supply co. and the Pins I got from my local welding supply company. I have CKed Maggard several time and there still out. I'm not really satisfied with the finish on the blade and if I do or if I don't get a buffer I may take it out of the scales and work on it some more. anyway for now it does shave good.

I have the same razor given to me by grandfather50+ years ago. Shaved with it for 3 or 4 years then and just started using it again. The scales are yellow and could be celluloid. It is an excellent shaver; smilers are good. Grandfather lived near Germantown in Philadelphia and the razor could be German or Philly manufacture. I will get a picture if I can.
