Started restoring my first C&R. I had just finished breadknifing, reaching for rag and it went to the floor. Ugly sound when it hit. Heres what i picked up. The rest with a magnetAttachment 199011Attachment 199012

On the bright side, there is little question as to whether or not it is salvageable.
Sorry for your loss.
So sad. But now it is a true bread knife. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose!
Good Lord!
It's a sickening feeling isn't it....
Another plus is it was not for a customer.... just your personal razor. (I hope)
Actually i thought so at first but rest of day. Read the post
As above, was probebly not salvageble from the get go.
Agree, it litterally exploded. Got to sweep with magnet. Or find it with my feet
I had a blue diamond at one point, absolutely mint condition, no hone wear to speak of, original finish on the blade, it looked amazing, went to tighten the pivot pin before I honed it for the first time, I dropped it on the concrete floor. It sounded kind of like breaking glass but much louder. It was also a sad day.
damn shame
sorry to see it go to waste completely
hone it up for practice & use it as a tape cutter maybe
or frame it as a lesson learnt
Or maybe, picture this. Granite scales, mammoth ivory inlays (cheap plastic)
Put on eBay marked as pre-dated 300 bc excellent condition. There's a set for every ass!
Oh man that sucks. Well, at least you now have a vintage steak knife with somewhat of a serrated edge. For this reason alone I have rubber and carpet remnants in my workshop / honing area.
It's nice to hear from another ohioan. Excuse me for asking, but what does the badge stand for. If what i think dont want you to have bad memories.
Perhaps this will answer your question.

You got me! LMAO
Explode sounds right. It looks like it fell down a flight of concrete steps. Too bad.
I shall take your word for that! :D
WOW, I feel your pain! I have had on two separate occasions Wade & Butcher blades slip from my hands while on a buffer & break! I was so grief stricken each time so I know how ya feel!
I say its a rollin tray, looks like some papers on the floor, some loose brain fodder and a seed on the tray. Hell i still got my cigar box, just dust and memories.:nj
