Razors on display...Attachment 203397
Well, I was to Brimfield a couple weeks ago.... Sorry I missed out on that....But would never have had the cash for all of them anyway. I came away from the show with a good mix of stuff anyway.Attachment 203409
Killer haul there vert! Is Brimfield a great antique market. I hear a lot about it from one of my customers who collects antique cut glass.
It is HUGE, I mean HUGE. I was there for 6 hours and only saw a portion, and I was hurrying booth to booth asking if they had shaving stuff. It is a multi-day event and I couldn't make it until the last day. The bad thing about that is all the good inexpensive items have been sold. But I got great deals because they didn't want to haul it home. The most I paid for the items pictured was $12/item, most I got for about $8/item.
There are a couple more this summer.
I have heard it is not as good as it used to be. The economy has hit the antique markets pretty hard. But it was a fun day.
Here is what I know about shave mugs:
1. Occupational mugs are more collectible and tend to be work more, especially with a name attached to it.
2. Old Spice mugs are highly collectible, but the Hull pottery mugs are worth most. Here is a good link for Old Spice knowledge: http://www.oldspicecollectibles.com
3. Obviously, the better the condition (no crazing or cracks) the more it's worth.
4. Not all mugs in a shave collection or truly shave mugs. Many are just run of the mill coffee cups or mustache cups.
5. Whoever owned this mug collection had AD.
