Gentlemen,
I have been working on the novel since 4:00 a.m., and now it's 12:00 p.m., and I'm fried, and so I took a break and updated photos of my humble shave den for 2015. Please forgive my indulgence.

Very nice Obie:) I wrote a novel once but it only sold 4 copies:(
Looking good. I dream of being that organized. I am a little surprised that you don't have more soaps.
Gee, Obie! If THAT is humble, we are all in trouble! :D
I got FRIED looking at all that stuff.
Lol. Humble. Right. Hahaha. I love it Obie. Very nice. My favorite is the disposable with a bow. Brilliant.
Very nice! I've much work to do in the shave den I think....
That aint no shave den, thats a store where ya buy the stuff[emoji6]
Just kiddin. Its awsome
Great job!
You ain't kidding.
I've been to imperial shave here in medina Ohio.
He's got about a third of the store, in comparison
I have just shown my wife your shave den photos and told her "that's what I want for Christmas! ". Good stuff
Looks just like a place that I'd like to go on my "dream vacation"
Beautiful organization!
Pete <:-}
Well if it's a store I'm placing my order for the Simpson brushes an the old gillettes. :tu
Very nice Obie. Wish I had the counter space to do that. Do you have any rust issues keeping your straights in the bathroom exposed like that? I keep mine locked up oiled in the bedroom.
good show Obie ,,always a pleasure ,, where did you get the metal razor rack , the ones you have the DE,s hanging in , 4 a piece.? tc
I found the razor racks at Kohl's Department Store some years ago. They are actually toothbrush holders in stainless steel no longer available. Fortunately I bought a half a dozen. They came in handy at one time when that entire counter was packed with rows and rows of straight and double edge razors. I have simplified life since then by selling most of the razors. I love those racks.
Very nice collection. And I thought my ADs were bad!! Suddenly feel the urge to buy something... anything...
thanks Obie ,, that gives me some ideas where to look ,, didn't dawn on me to look at toothbrush holders couldn't make out all the soaps ,, is your 7 wonders still the same ? tc
.
Yes, some of these department stores have all sort of hidden treasures.
My seven Wonders list of soaps in all likelihood will change in the coming months. After having tried Savonnerie du bon Berger, Savonnerie du Moulin and Antica Barbieria Colla, all of which are a delight, I'm afraid I have to revise the list to some extent. Martin de Candre, Castle Forbes and Baum.Be are safe. Some of the others, in light of my new experiences with soaps, might require further evaluation.
I showed my wife the pics of the shave den..... She rolled her eyes and under her breathe...... " No effing way!"
:mad::cry:

One day..... (she don't know it yet).... I'll have my shave den....
hehehehehe
look forward to it as always Obie, I don't know about me and bed bath and beyond, but ill send the wife on a search she doesn't mind ,, my bathroom is mine alone so she even helps me with it tc
One of the many reasons to look forward to moving is the opportunity to have my own bathroom. All mine, to do with as I please. Sad that this is one of the things I look forward to, but there it is.
Right now I have a small cabinet in our one bathroom, and a corner stand in our bedroom.
Nice, nice space usage Obie!
Clean and serene. Like the barber pole on the counter a lot!
Nice job..
Mike,
Thank you for the kind words. I dislike clutter and try to make the shave den reflect that. Since space is limited in my humble condominium, soaps and cream are in the closet next to the sink, the same closet that houses trousers, shirts, my towels and additional shaving paraphernalia. Some 30 or 40 soaps and creams, brushes, etc. — foolishly bought — pack three big plastic drawers under the razor counter.
The two straight razor racks on the counter have been a blessing. I still plan to have my wife stain them — she loves to work with wood. Each holds 12 straight razors. The racks that hold the double edge razors are stainless steel — and another blessing to have. The few strops that I have left hang on hooks on the back of the bedroom door. For the daily stropping, I have a little hook just below the counter.
The family calls me a neat-freak. You bet. Everything is clean and in immaculate shape. The mostly vintage straights don't have a spec of rust on them, or stain or any other nasty stuff one sees on many razors, new or vintage. Many of those razors I've had for years, and they're still in perfect shape — all my razors are honed and shave ready. The double edge razors are kept in perfect shape, too, including the old Gillettes. Listen, it's my stuff and I take care of it. If I were to give one important advice, among others, to newbies, it would be to take care of your stuff.
Such fun to fade away daily in my little corner of paradise.
Ah Come ON Tc!!!!!! How many times has Anyone seen a Gorilla walk into a Bed Bath and Beyond? Might make the front page of the local Paper!
I can see it now!
Gorilla Sighted at Local Bed Bath and Beyond

:y
With your colours, I humbly offer you suggest milking wash for those racks. Have your wife check out the process. Turns out very soft and clean.
Also, look at lab beaker/test tube storage racks for long stainless options in the future.
Cheers, and I like bad soap choices. Great in the guest bath.
Wow, I wish mine looked like that! How do you choose Obie?
Mine is humbled by some of the great collections I have seen. Mine is baby stuff compared to the great ones.
Through the years I have bought and sold a parade of razors: big Sheffields, American barbers, vintage and modern German, French and Spanish, and custom. I bought too many, sold too many, sold some I should not have, and many I was wise to sell.
Eventually, though, you settle on what you like. I don't particularly care for the new Thiers-Issard razors. I do have a sweet 6/8 Le Grelot. Dubl Duck doesn't impress me. Puma is overrated. So is Filarmonica. I like Globusmen. Gotta. Carl Schlieper. I have one C-Mon 6/8 square point, a gift from a dear friend, and I love it.
My pride, though, is a pair of Wade & Butcher 6/8 smiling blades with barber's notch and ivory scales. May the craftsman who made them in the 1850s continue to visit that great barbershop in heaven.
Dang! What a collection! Very well rounded, with many of each.. Is that a vintage disposable razor with the bow? lol I stopped with one shave bowl of rosewood, always say will get more, and the DE razors are on the list but not yet. Thanks for sharing, thats some serious organization!
Attachment 205788It would probably make the news for sure,
I did get some looks at Christmas !!!!!! :rofl2:
