California Truckin'...Again
Attachment 210407
I've given up trying figure orientation, rotation out. Pix was straight up when I took it. Here we go....
This could be a story about a vendor, a brush story, about truckin' in California, or fabulous customer service. In truth, it's all the above. This week's trucking assignment took me back to Santa Ana. I remembered my last trip there about 3 week's ago with fondness due to my visit with classicshaving.com. I hadn't intended to bother them this time, but I remembered I have a new Vulfix 2235 on order with them. I whipped open my email, found the receipt, and pressed "tracking". USPS said shipment received August 21st, with no subsequent tracking information. Odd, indeed. So I called, asked "where is my brush?" Beverley said shed have to look into it. Fair enough. I told her I was in Santa Ana getting unloaded and would be passing through Palm Springs on my way out. Bless her heart, Beverley suggested to swing by and she'd give me another if I could be there by 16:00 (that's 4:00 PM for non-trucking or military types) . Beverley said shed be gone, but Jason would be there and she would fill him in on what's going on. I've talked to Jason before. Good, a name I recognize. Arrived 15:30 / 3:30 PM. Here's the great customer service part. Jason was ready for me and we talked for little over 2 hours. Remember they close at 4PM. He gave me 1.5 hours of his own time and gave me a H.I.S. 1918 synthetic brush. We talked about razors, brushes, honing, etc. I may not buy everything I want from classicshaving.com of Palm Springs, CA, but they are my number one go to guys, and gals. This was the second such visit with these folks. The first was 2 hours with Will, proprietor.
So, I'm in Quartzite, AZ tonight at the Loves truck stop. Couldn't wait to try out the Vulfix. I was using a cheap little brush that came with a beginner's kit from Gentleman Haggar, Amazon. My first real super badger. Impressions: holds lots of water, splays easily, but sucked up my cream. I use Porasso eucalyptus in a tube on the road. The dab I used with my cheap brush would get 3-4 passes and touch ups. Same dab barely covered my face for first pass. It just sucked up the soap.
My wife told me the L'Occitane Plisson synthetic came in today too.
Pictured here are the white Vulfix 2235 and black H.I.S. 1918.
