    Default California Truckin'...Again

I've given up trying figure orientation, rotation out. Pix was straight up when I took it. Here we go....

This could be a story about a vendor, a brush story, about truckin' in California, or fabulous customer service. In truth, it's all the above. This week's trucking assignment took me back to Santa Ana. I remembered my last trip there about 3 week's ago with fondness due to my visit with classicshaving.com. I hadn't intended to bother them this time, but I remembered I have a new Vulfix 2235 on order with them. I whipped open my email, found the receipt, and pressed "tracking". USPS said shipment received August 21st, with no subsequent tracking information. Odd, indeed. So I called, asked "where is my brush?" Beverley said shed have to look into it. Fair enough. I told her I was in Santa Ana getting unloaded and would be passing through Palm Springs on my way out. Bless her heart, Beverley suggested to swing by and she'd give me another if I could be there by 16:00 (that's 4:00 PM for non-trucking or military types) . Beverley said shed be gone, but Jason would be there and she would fill him in on what's going on. I've talked to Jason before. Good, a name I recognize. Arrived 15:30 / 3:30 PM. Here's the great customer service part. Jason was ready for me and we talked for little over 2 hours. Remember they close at 4PM. He gave me 1.5 hours of his own time and gave me a H.I.S. 1918 synthetic brush. We talked about razors, brushes, honing, etc. I may not buy everything I want from classicshaving.com of Palm Springs, CA, but they are my number one go to guys, and gals. This was the second such visit with these folks. The first was 2 hours with Will, proprietor.

So, I'm in Quartzite, AZ tonight at the Loves truck stop. Couldn't wait to try out the Vulfix. I was using a cheap little brush that came with a beginner's kit from Gentleman Haggar, Amazon. My first real super badger. Impressions: holds lots of water, splays easily, but sucked up my cream. I use Porasso eucalyptus in a tube on the road. The dab I used with my cheap brush would get 3-4 passes and touch ups. Same dab barely covered my face for first pass. It just sucked up the soap.

My wife told me the L'Occitane Plisson synthetic came in today too.

Pictured here are the white Vulfix 2235 and black H.I.S. 1918.

It's been 20 years since I hauled my last load out to Kali. I won't ever go back to that place. I ran the left coast off and on for 20 years.

Quit trucking completely in '01. I miss it for maybe 5 seconds every 6 months or so when I happen to see a REALLY nice heavy haul rig. LOL

    Stay safe out there.

I had the same issue with my iPhone. I don't get it. it has taken pics that way before but when I put them in my computer I was able to turn them but once, last night, I added two pics on a thread & they were sideways & she I took them with my iPhone, it was in normal position! Oh well, I grabbed my old digital & took the pics & fixed the issue.
Sounds like Classic Shaving is getting to be the place to go plus they're getting some good word of mouth here. I have wanted a Plisson brush but I can't do it at the moment. I did file an old Aflac claim so maybe it will pay off! I have also seen some others I would like to have. I want to make more brushes but as I have said so many times, I need to get my Logan lathe here from my mothers house that my dad left me.

I came to trucking later in life in 2006. I'm 56 yo. I love everyday on the road, in all kinds f weather or traffic. Had never been to CA before these last two runs, and it's worked out well meeting the folks at classic shaving, twice. Truck speed limit is 55. I did 62 cruise control. CHP just passed me by.

Now that I've got SR shaving as a hobby I spend most of the day thinking about it. Derangement. Sine yesterday when I got my 2 new brushes, I've been swirling my face with them while driving. I'm really liking the synthetic.

I'll tell you, if all businesses treated customers as they do, there'd be no shortage of success in America. Will, katlyn, Jason, berverly, all like family now. Who knows, to them I may be that crazy nut truck driver from Houston.

Picture orientation - have the camera button on your phone on the right when you take the photo, it means you can only do landscape but they will end up the right way around. This works on my Samsung galaxy and I think it should work on any smartphone.

Earlier I mentioned I received a complimentary H.I.S. 1918 synthetic brush (pictured here with black handle) from classicshaving.com. I used it tonight in my shaving routine. Here are my impressions: holds lots of water, splays easily, smooth as silk, and most importantly didn't swallow all my soap / cream. I used the same amount as with my cheap brush, and last night, and had enough in the brush for 3 good passes. I think I'm becoming a synthetic brush man

When I get home to my new Plisson I'll tell you of my impressions of it. BTW, I'm in El Paso, tx tonight at the loves truck stop, I-10, ext 0.

yes you have almonds and I can't stand 'em LMAO. I got no use for the CHiPs out that way. They think TX trucks are an open cash register drawer.

I used to have a hard believing I was gettin paid to drive. After a couple of million miles that idea wore pretty thin.

    Enjoy it while you can.

It wa the first time my iPhone ever did it but when I opened up my pics again, they're sideways after I had turned them so I turned them again & now that have stayed that way. I have been using my iPhone in my SOTD's.
