A pair out of American history
I just received this pair of James Johnson razors and am very happy. It is a personalized pair, marked Allen Wardner, 1831, and almost in untouched condition. The scales were trashed and will be rebuilt.
Zak was able to find some information on Mr. Wardner. The razors came from Vermont, where an Allen Wardner was involved heavily in business and politics, being in the Vermont House of Representatives, starting in 1831. He was also the father-in-law of a US Senator, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. While there is no direct evidence for the connection, I am happy with the razors being the right time and coming from the right place for the match.
