Default My haul for the day! I'm a happy camper

I recently found a gold mine, my neighbor. He some how got wind that I was restoring straight razors and he practically gave these razors to me. For those of you that seen my post about the dubl duck we came to an agreement for $150 and I think its in pretty amazing condition! But it didn't have a box I think this looks like a 6/8 I haven't had a chance to get a ruler to it. Some of the, were surprisingly shave ready feeling lol... He said they were his grandfathers and he wanted to give them to someone who'd appriciate them. So I'm going to respect that and not sell any of these razors. But I thought I would still share...

so so the razors I have questions about are:
#3 Fredrick Reynolds, it is massive what kind of razor is this? Concave? Faux frame back? Is it considered a smiling blade.

#5 GW is that a smiling blade as well? I've never seen one like that was it somehow bent?

    6) GW I found this one super cool, about when was this razor made... I know there is a SRP library but I could never figure it out...

    as always thanks guys
    Fonz

    1)Wade & Butcher Special $5
    2)Fontana-Blue Solingen 4/8 $5
    3)Fredrick Reynolds $5
    4)Dubl Duck Pearl Duck 6/8 $150
    5)George Wostenholm pipe razor $5
6)Geroge Wostenholm IXL double concave $5

I'd say you hit the mother load my friend. That's quite a hall. I love when you come across those kind of people who have cool old straights and "since no one really uses them for shaving any more" they're just looking to make a buck or two while getting rid of them. Some of the best razors in my stable I got for <$10. Unfortunately most of my local haunts are pretty fished out or have started selling the pretty razors, you know the ones from China and Pakistan . One guy actually tried to tell me they were superior to the old razors made in Solingen and Sheffield. Sure dude and wolverines make great house pets. You've really scored some beauties here though. Once you get them cleaned up and honed I'd bet they'll all be great shavers.

Read up in the restore threads and watch some you tubes. We like members with all their fingers and hate stories about razors flying across the shop :<0) They are delicate and they do bite. You can do it, just be careful.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Wow, that DD is in great condition. Maybe his grandfather thought it was just too nice looking to use.
Looks like he took good care of them and kept them dry.

I really like the FR too. I don't have a frameback (I think that is what those are called), but I really like the way they look.

You only paid $2 over the original price on that last Wostenholm, that's pretty cool.

A nice bunch indeed, don't look like they need much work at all. Besides a light clean and hone, wouldn't change a thing, not even the scales...
