First straight razor purchase.

So for Christmas my girlfriend bought me a restored Kamisori. Dont know anything about it really. Havent put any effort into researching it. But it launched my interest into restoration so the next day I hit up the local antique stores and didnt buy my first straight razor, bought my first 5 lol.

From top to bottom they're

1. Anchor Brand
2. Koken No. 72
3. Cranford Razor Works
4. Ontario Cutlery
5. C. V. Heljfeztrans M K No 31

Quite happy with my purchase total I spent like 50 for all 5 of em. I also picked up a Schick injector razor, no intention to use that or restore just collection piece.

When you have done a bit more reading, you will find that the Heljfeztrans is a decent razor. If I were you, I would store it somewhere very safe, and not mess with it in any way. You will soon realise, why. Oh, and I would not sell it, either. Seriously not.

I'm actually in process of restoring that one, have only done some handsanding up to 1000 grit so far, I plan on making it my daily shaver. I read it is quite a good blade.

Ah, yes. Well, that is a bit of a pity. If I were you, I would totally leave that one to a professional. Actually, I would have kept it intact, because you will never get anywhere near the original finish ever again. And they look tacky with a "mirror finish". But that is a matter of personal preference. Good luck with it.

Whats so special about them? I know build quality is excellent but are they rare?

Build quality is en par with anything from Solingen at the time. They are not rare at all. But for some reason people are willing to pay a premium. So, hold on to it. It is a nice razor.

Be damned careful with the scales on the Hilje because I think they may be ivory and it is easy to bugger them up.

That's a shame. Seriously. On the picture it looked in really decent condition, needing only some metal polish.
