Thread: C V Heljestrand Kindal SE Razor

Didn't see a chip in the pic, hopefully it's not too big. $30 sounds like a deal to me, appears to be in pretty shape. Nice find, hope its shaves well :thumbsup

Thanks. I was trying not to be so obvious but you can see it in the third pic right above my thumbnail. The good thing about that razor is that he designed it to accept the blade even after some serious honing. I forgot to mention but I'm sure everyone who sees it will notice it has an attachment to use as a straight handle also

I have seen incomplete sets before that were 3 day, 5 day & 7 day sets so one day, I will find some extra blades.

30 USD is a good deal, chips or not

Steve that not a handle for using as a straight - it's the honing attachment. The handle and honing attachment are joined together to make a longer holder when honing. You might want to experiment with taping as with a normal straight if you are going to remove the chip. These are nice shavers - I have a seven day set.

This picture shows part of the handle still attached to the head - for honing it is moved to the other holder.

I would also advise to tape the part where you slide in the blade, as that honing holder would wear rather quickly.

That's what I was referring to - the tape also helps to keep the blade in position.

Congratulations. I have a fully honed 7 day set, including the Magnus strop. They are magnificent shavers.

As always, thanks Rob. It does look like it really wouldn't be justifiable to use as a straight. To be honest I wasn't thinking about it when I saw it & I've said this before but I'm never afraid to admit when I'm wrong about something. I didn't even think I would win it rather I figured I would be outbid. I couldn't believe I won it for that price. I didn't have that much more on my bid.
Also I use tape on every straight I hone with the exception of one W&B wedge I have. When I won it, I needed some good scales & it was cheap because it appeared to be rusted but after some time, I decided to clean the blade up & it came out not so bad as it first looked to be & my straight razor friend who lives nearby asked if he could hone it & I handed it to him. A short while later he sent me a short video clip from his phone of it popping hairs. It has turned out to be one of my favorite shavers. After time I have acquired quite a few sets of scales & original collars so I put this one back together & you can hardly tell it has been taken apart.



Back to the C V Heljestrand SE razor, I would like to get maybe at least one extra blade. One poster here has written me a pm that he has a few blades so I may get a spare for it. I would rather have at least one that has not been chipped even though I hope this one can be honed out with a little luck but an extra for it would certainly be great!

Reminds me of my Rolls, but much nicer. Hard to beat Swedish steel.
