My picker

Well it seems that I have not only acquired some new gear, but I've also acquired a new picker. My friend at work who's our electrician loves to go Antiquing and has taken it upon himself to find shaving related items for me while he's out and about. So last weekend he starts sending me pics from his phone showing shaving stuff that he had found. I told him to buy the stuff cause it was really a good price for it, and the gear was looking good.




Once I finally had them in hand, the 2 DE razors are very gunky.... Got my work cut out for me on these 2. The stand has that crackled glazing, and looks really cool. the brush and Auto strop will probably just go on display in one of my cabinets.

Nice haul!!

Rehab the brush, they were of a good quality boar bristle. Rehab the handle with Poly Varnish; they were lacquered. Leave no spot from the ferrule to the top un-coated, it will shed the coating again.
I like the few that I have! And they are usually my giveaway to new honers and shavers that come to be shown.
The stand is a winner even if it was made for a TrackTwo.

Richard, thank you for that info. Shouldn't take much to do that. As for the DE razors, I've forgotten what it is you soak them in to loosen up the gunk?

Use Scrubbing Bubbles on the DE razors, totally soak them & let them sit for a full 5 minutes,,, then rinse warm water as you knock off the remainder soap/cream scum with a toothbrush,,,, then hit again with Scrubbing Bubbles for 2 minutes,,,rinse,,, then use the toothbrush with dish soap to scrub the DE,,,,if your going to use it,,, then it would not hurt to Barbicide it.

If its just a display,,, then finish by a flush with WD-40 to push all the water out.
