Yet another storage thread...
Figured this should work for my little upstart collection. I should be able to fit my razors, pieces and parts for restorations, and sharpening stones (when I get them) in it. Plus it looks pretty dang kewl. They don't make them like this anymore.

Very nice! I'm envious. Where did you find it?
They still make them, though.

Found this one the Bay. Yes you can still get them but they look nothing like this. The 1/4 sawn oak is a relic of a bygone hand made age. Now its thin tin, pressed particle board with veneer laminate, or stained poplar. And good luck finding a quality piece with solid brass hardware. I tried and failed on the modern replicas.

That is a beauty. I always wanted one of those and not being a machinist it didn't make sense so I didn't get one .......... until I had a bunch of straight razors. Then it made sense. I couldn't find one that was really nice like that for a price I wanted to pay, so I bought an old one reasonably on the bay, not sure what wood, with a black leather (?) covering. Served the purpose.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Nice idea. You've got me thinking now about lining the drawers in a padded leather. I know you can get died just about any color of the rainbow now.

Thanked: 1184Might wanna be careful laying celluloid in leather though. Maybe a special drawer with the rubber stuff that has holes in it for those. No moisture at all around cell and I thought I heard something about dyes in leather not being so great around razors. I am sure a little research and you can pick the right leather. Veg tanned maybe ?

Hobby Lobby has sheets of a thin foam like material, I thought it was leather at first glance, that comes in many colors, cheap by the square, easy to cut. I have it as a floor in my badger house, as it will not react to my wood shave brushes.
Also they have colored felt sheeets you can cut to size & will stay in place with Elmers Glue stick.

Thanks for the tips guys. You've really got my wheels spinning naming on this one now. Guess it's time to make a run to the craft store and see if inspiration beats me in the head with a brick.
