The Perfect Edgeof o
Stumbled across this gentleman that lives within an hour of me a number of months ago. He runs a small operation out of his home called "The Perfect Edge". He's been working with knives and razors for over 30 years, so I had him make me this 6/8" square toe. I have a couple of German blades that cost more than twice than what he charges to make what you want. The shave is spectacular. His name is Howard Schechter. The web site is <theperfectedge.com>. He also sells a good selection of stones and a few sundries. A finer more honest gentleman you won't meet. Pardon my photos, as I'm not a great photographer.

Yes, Howard is a fine gentleman and provides excellent service and products. I've purchased a Belgian yellow coticule, a Belgian blue whetstone, and a Zulu Grey from him. I've called him many times for advice on honing and shaving gear. He's always eager to help and chat. A fine gentleman indeed.

Looks nice - did you request the different size pins?

No, didn't even realise it was an option. I just started using a straight blade this year. I have a lot to learn. I started last Autumn with a shavette. Boy, was that a mistake. Talk about carving your face to pieces!

I bought a 16 K Shapton glass from him a month back. Used to finish on a 12 K Naniwa. A good stone, but the 16 works wonders. Finish shaving and give it 6 light laps and you'll never have to do a whole routine again. And its fine enough so you won't have to worry about wearing your blade down. Howard has been doing this for years, and I believe he's right. Great for me. I'm retired and like to keep busy, but simple!
