Yeah I was starting at that site you posted all afternoon yesterday. The seam down the middle of the handle was what pushed me to think its a G1. Its an odd fit in the box so i dont think its the original packaging either.

The seamed handle often throws people. Two things that mark it as an E3: The head has patent pending on it, whereas the G has two patent numbers listed. Also, the Gs do not have the flaps on the side of the spring.
I have two of these and there is something special about shaving with a razor that was used by one of our sailors in World War II.
Enjoy it!
Karl thank you for confirming. I'm liking this razor more and more as i learn about it. Gonna go get some Chicks this morning and try it out!
Nice haul Matt. I'm jealous, haven't been able to go hunting much this year on account of working 6 days a week. But I've been keeping my eye on a nice silver plated (vintage ) scuttle & brush, thats been hiding in a antique shop. Yeah...I hid it in his own booth, away from prying eyes, till I've got the chedder to bring it home.
A little pricey, but only need a few $ more...and its mine!!
I'm gonna put this in with the rest of my notes on antiquing tactics :)
Honestly Mike, a large part of my success hunting these things down can be attributed to your tutelage. I did like ya said.. got to know my local shop owners, noted which vendors brought in shavin stuff, got my number out there and i just make runs when i can and now i know where to look. I feel ya though. This summer working 60 hour weeks i had not as much time at the razorin bench as i would have liked.
