Default A Schick and a Case..

Went out with my woman to do some errands this morning and we happened to pass by a smaller shop that is very close to me but one i dont frequent often since i havent had the best luck there. Today was different.

    Got a Schick..

    And a Case..

Love the Celluloid pattern and the blade is in great shape.. easy clean up. Looks like they stamped it twice.

Quick question since I'm just recently stumbling into the safety razor world. Could the blades in the Schick mag still be any good, or is it just better to get some new blades? Any recommendations for new blades would be appreciated. I'm gonna spend a little time this afternoon reading up on the Schick.

Thanks for lookin my razor dudes!

Look at them with magnification, if you see rust on the bevels or the edge is not straight, pass.

You can buy blades, at most online razor suppliers, even Walgreens, for about $5 a pack.

Nice find, like the Case, a shaver…

You got a rare Case there. The brothers moved to Springville after the factory in Little Valley burned down in 1905. They weren't there too long, a year or so IIRC, before it burned down too. The scales appear to be original because the brothers used a washer/ferrule under the rivet at the pin, but no washer/ferrule at the wedge end. Great score !

So it sounds like the best bet for the Schick is some new blades. I did pop one in from the magazine and there are some tiny rust spots on the bevel. Off to Walgreens i go!!

One of the things i've been really interested in is dating all my razors. I found the same information regarding the Springville factory. I believe i actually said out loud (by myself) 'Well that was an easy one to date!" I've spent hours digging through internet pages trying to figure out a blades age. This one took all of 2 minutes.

I did not know about the way they pinned their razors. I'm really glad its original (it was not exactly cheap). Gonna brush her down with Palmolive, pick any gunk out of the pivot end i can and Crox/Mass the blade. That'll be it.

Any particular reason it would be double stamped like that? I'm figuring the guy that stamped it had one too many drams the night before, and good for him if he did!

    Thanks for the info gents.

Nice haul! Check the Schick and see if the spring can go sideways at the head to open the razor. Half the notch of the spring is cut away? If so, it is an E-2 and one aggressive shaver. Wish't you picture had shown the full spring. The side peices on the spring do say an "E" model.
    Enjoy it carefully!

For Schick Injectors I like Ted Pella blades. Product # 121-4 is a 20 blade injector for under $5.

Ill check out those T. Pella blades for sure. Thanks!

Here's the top of the spring. I had it pegged for an E-3. I of course, could be wrong.

G1 after all.. it has a plastic handle with a seam.

The box is from an E type razor. That confused me.

Must have had a few 'go withs' at the antique shop..

It looks to be an E-3 to me. The parallel grooves on the safety bar are the tip-off. Since it's a white handle instead of the butterscoth it would appear to be the ones issued to the Navy in WWII. However, these came in a blue clamshell case so the box may not be original. Here's a good reference source: Schick Injector Razors

    Nice score.
