Work took me to Sao Paulo this week and I got to spend the weekend trawling the city's many flea markets. Picked up two nice razors for very little: a Filarmonica Doble Temple 13 (first generation) in nice usable condition and a giant 8/8ths Dorko, Solingen. Unfortunately, the Filarmonica scales are too small for the blade, so either they shrunk with age...? Or more likely, someone used scales off a smaller Filarmonica to 'restore' the razor (the non-matching box is for a Sub Cero). I've got a set of similar white scales off a 6/8 Grelot that (after hours of polishing) proved to have too corroded a blade to put an edge on, so I'm going to use those to replace.

Two questions perhaps someone can help with:

1/ I want to remove the metal plaque off the Filarmonica scales and put it on the new ones. Was planning to try boiling it off. Anyone got any experience of doing that or have alternative method?

2/ Anyone seen a Dorko like this one? It's a giant blade but very plain, not like the images of very elaborate blades I find for this maker online. Perhaps this is an early 1920s model?
