    Default Battley Swift, Sheffield straight

One of my more uncommon razors, Battley Swift, 5 Thorp Road, Sheffield.
The razor looks to have been re ground in it's early life.
My research found Battley on the census records 1881 living at 5 Thorp Road. He was in different locations in the 1871 and 1891 census lists.
    He died in 1901 aged 79. .

It looks like it is really wanting to be honed and back to work!
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Oh yes it's honed and in use, nothing sits out of use long in my collection
It shaves very well, the grind I'm guessing to be 1/4 hollow.

Quite possible that is the original grind. The double stabilizer heal started to show up in the mid 1870's. I enjoy seeing the less common Sheffield makers work. Thank you.
