    Default Gifted a seven-day set

From a quick google search, I think this is a Wilkinson Empire 7 day set, circa 1936-52. All 7 blades are present, if rusty. Strop is intact, and remarkably supple. Handle is something I have questions about, as it looks like there should be some sort of "cap" that keeps an installed blade from moving once it is locked into place. Can anybody shed light on this set? Is it complete, or am I correct that something is missing from the handle. none of the images I could find show a cap, but I am at a loss as to how the blade would be kept from moving as much as it does just through normal handling. Rust aside, I would not put this near my face like this. Do these have any values beyond a keepsake?

how does the blade fit in the handle? ( and why not try and shave with it?)

There is a hole in the clip that secures the blade. This hole mounts on a stud on the handle, after which the blade twists into place. It then pushes down against the bar with the grooves in it. This bar can be extended to adjust shave closesness or some such, but the blade is still free to "pop up", which is why I think there should be a cap.

I have one....Never fooled with it. A friend gave me an old Weck razor to put the blades in to hone them.

There is a set of instructions here https://www.flickr.com/photos/ksenor...57622895724433

Should add that there is no cap with these and other similar razors. They lock in place in their blade holder by tightening the handle or a separate screw iirc.
